What Is Invisalign

Your InvisalignⓇ clear aligners are custom-made for you. The aligners are virtually invisible and fit snugly over your teeth. Invisalign is one type, and the most well known, of clear aligners that are now available.

Each aligner shifts your teeth slightly, moving them horizontally and vertically and even rotating them when needed. Your aligners are engineered to use the right amount of force in the right place at the right time.

When you change to the next set of aligners your teeth gradually move into position, following a custom treatment plan mapped out by Dr. Gilbert.

Clear aligner treatment is effective for complex cases. With constant innovation, Dr Gilbert can confidently use clear aligners for a wide variety of treatment complexities.

Intraoral Scanners

We are proud to offer intraoral scanning at our office. Digital intraoral scanning eliminates the uncomfortable process of getting impressions! iTero and Medit scanners digitally capture the contours of the teeth and gums with high precision while still maximizing comfort.

A full mouth scan can be done in less than 5 minutes and provides Dr. Gilbert with all the necessary information to make appliances, clear aligners like Invisalign, and retainers.

With our scanners we can also leverage the technology of the outcome simulator. This will give you a visual representation of what your teeth could look like after completing orthodontic treatment.

“Never a fan of my smile, at age 52 I realized that my bottom teeth were starting to crowd. For my anniversary, my wife gave me the wonderful gift of fixing my smile! After asking multiple people, I decided to go to Dr. Gilbert. A great decision. Dr. Gilbert and his staff were friendly and welcoming. They explained all my options as well as the trade offs between the different treatments. I am now 1/4 of the way through and can already see a significant improvement in my smile. Its amazing how much more I’m smiling.”

Rob S

“Dr. Gilbert and his staff are wonderful. They are kind, friendly and get to know their patients and their families by name. The office is clean, bright, and modern. Dr.Gilbert has done a phenomenal job with my son and his teeth. An added bonus is the location in downtown Highland Park. When my son went to Elm Place he walked there (it’s almost across the street). He was able to take an appointment in the middle of the day and make it back to school. Northwood kids who will be at Elm Place for the next two years may want to jump on that. Truly a great orthodontist. Smart, trustworthy, kind and a pleasure to work with.”

Marci K

“AWESOME office and staff! Couldn’t ask for better service. I appreciate that the office is supportive to his community, and also took my daughters case on as a Smiles Change Lives recipient, covering the cost of her braces.

My daughter was terrified of getting braces and Dr Gilbert and his staff made her feel so comfortable, and taught her how to care for them at home. We cannot wait to see how her teeth change!”

Tandria C

“My daughter received Invisalign from Gilbert Orthodontics in Highland Park and I was extremely happy with the overall experience. My daughter’s teeth look great and Dr. Gilbert and the Office Staff were very friendly, professional and accommodating. My daughter was away at college and they were especially helpful in coordinating visits; including coming in on off hours. I highly recommend Gilbert Orthodontics”

Yes! You can remove your aligners to eat and drink anything. There are no food restrictions during Invisalign treatment

Most patients find Invisalign to be more comfortable because there are no metal wires or brackets to cause irritation. You may feel slight pressure when starting a new set of trays, which is a sign your teeth are moving toward their new positions.

Invisalign is virtually invisible. Most people won’t even notice you’re wearing them, making it a favorite for busy professionals and social teens in the North Shore area.

For the best results, you should wear your aligners for 20 to 22 hours a day, removing them only to eat, drink (anything other than water), brush, and floss.
