As an orthodontist I get to craft beautiful smiles and watch them develop over the course of treatment. I am very fortunate to be able to practice a profession that allows me to get to know my patients and their families over the course of years. I feel as though I have an extended circle of friends. Although I may see patients only once every couple of months, I get to know them really well over the course of treatment.
Education and Continuing Education
- Doctorate of Dental Surgery – University of Southern California Dental School, 1986
- Orthodontic certificate and Master of Science – Northwestern University School of Dentistry, 1991
Unlike many orthodontists, I practiced as a general dentist for three years before specializing in orthodontics. It gave me a great foundation on which to build beautiful smiles that are also healthy. Now I take a wide variety of continuing education courses, from advanced Invisalign® programs to courses on combination orthodontics and facial surgery treatment. These allow me to stay on top of fast-changing technologies and offer my patients the most advanced orthodontic treatments.

In the Community
As an undergraduate student in 1980, I was lucky enough to have the opportunity to assist dentists and dental students in providing no-cost dental care to children in need, both in the United States and Israel. That great experience inspired me to pursue dentistry as a career. I am fortunate enough to be able to continue to provide no-cost orthodontic treatment to patients in need in my private practice.
Personally, my family and I also participate in many programs that benefit the less fortunate here in Highland Park. All five of us can be found serving meals at a local soup kitchen or putting together Thanksgiving baskets to brighten families’ holidays.
Outside the Office
I am very fortunate to be married to my life love, Robyn: my best friend, business partner, orthodontic colleague, and co-parent. We were married in downtown Chicago in 1989. In 1991, our first child, Anna, was born. A little less than two years later, our first son, Jon, joined the family. In early 1995, our youngest child, Micah, came onto the scene. Our children are out and about but our pet snake Monty Python still lives at home, as he has for more than 15 years!
My free time is spent expanding my many collections. I have a collection of natural mementos from my travels, as well as many items from the shores of Lake Michigan. These include beach glass, animal bones, ancient fossils, dried-up animals, and naturally heart-shaped rocks.
This dovetails into a couple of my other hobbies: camping and hiking. I love to watch birds, which I do most often from the comfort of my backyard. My family and I also love to SCUBA dive; all five of us are certified divers and love to dive together as a family.
